STRINGS ENTANGLED
In der Duo-Performance „Strings Entangled“ treffen Gayageum (koreanische Zither) und E-Gitarre mit Elektronik (Supercollider) aufeinander. Die koreanische Musikerin Hyunjeong Park und der deutsche Medienkünstler Leon Eckard koppeln die Instrumente durch selbstentwickelte Algorithmen zu einem interaktiven System. Sie beeinflussen sich sowohl auf akustischer als auch auf digitaler Ebene kontinuierlich gegenseitig, ohne dabei ihre kulturelle Identität zu verlieren. Kontaktmikrofone, Echtzeit-Signalverarbeitung und algorithmische Prozesse ermöglichen es, Klangentscheidungen zwischen analogem Spiel und generativen Strukturen auszuhandeln. So entstehen offene, nicht-hierarchische Klangräume, die von Echtzeitinteraktion, Differenz und Annäherung geprägt sind.

In the duo performance “Strings Entangled,” the gayageum (Korean zither) and electric guitar are combined with electronics (Supercollider). Korean musician Hyunjeong Park and German media artist Leon Eckard use algorithms they developed themselves to link the instruments into an interactive system. This allows them to continuously influence one another on both acoustic and digital levels, without losing their cultural identities. Contact microphones, real-time signal processing, and algorithmic processes make it possible to negotiate sonic choices between analog performance and generative structures. This creates open, non-hierarchical sonic spaces that are characterised by real-time interaction, difference and convergence.
