Dialogue de l'ombre déformé
„Dialogue de l’ombre déformé“ ist eine offene Musikperformance für Fagott, Mehrkanal-Elektronik und ein mit RAVE trainiertes KI-Modell. Ausgangspunkt ist Pierre Boulez’ „Dialogue de l’ombre double“, dessen Idee des musikalischen Selbstgesprächs hier in die Gegenwart übertragen wird: Der fixe Tonband-Schatten wird zu einem lernenden, dynamischen Gegenüber. In der etwa 30-minütigen Performance treten Fagott und KI zunächst als klar getrennte Stimmen auf. Nach und nach übernimmt das Modell, das u.a. mit Aufnahmen des Fagotts trainiert wurde, die Rolle des Schattens: Es reagiert in Echtzeit, formt um, spiegelt oder widerspricht dem Instrument. Aus einem linearen Dialog entsteht ein instabiles Geflecht aus Imitation, Konfrontation und Koexistenz.
Mit jeder Aufführung verändert sich das System weiter und fordert den Fagottisten Timm Kornelius zu neuen musikalischen Entscheidungen heraus.

DIALOGUE DE L’OMBRE DÉFORMÉ
“Dialogue de l’ombre déformé” is an open-ended musical performance for bassoon, multichannel electronics, and an AI model trained with RAVE. Its starting point is Pierre Boulez’s “Dialogue de l’ombre double”, whose concept of a musical self-talk is transposed here into the present: the fixed tape shadow becomes a learning, dynamic counterpart. In the approximately 30-minute performance, the bassoon and AI initially appear as clearly distinct voices. Gradually, the model—which was trained, among other things, on recordings of the bassoon—assumes the role of the shadow: it reacts in real time, reshapes, mirrors, or contradicts the instrument. A linear dialogue gives rise to an unstable interweaving of imitation, confrontation, and coexistence.
With each performance, the system continues to evolve, challenging bassoonist Timm Kornelius to make new musical decisions.
