AFAIK (as far as I know, deutsch: so weit ich weiß) macht Fragmente von Experimenten und den Prozess des Hörbarmachens von Daten selbst, hörbar.

Die Daten, die hörbar gemacht werden, repräsentieren weltweit gemessene Luftschadstoffkonzentrationen (Kohlenmonoxid, NOx, PM₁₀, PM₂.₅ und SO), zwischen 1995 und 2015.

Die Sonifikation (Hörbar-Machen) ist eine interessante Methode, um in sich wandelnden Welten zu arbeiten. Einerseits verfügen wir über einen breiten und schnellen Zugang zu Daten, andererseits erschweren deren stromartiger Charakter und die hohe Geschwindigkeit ihres Wandels das Finden relevanter Informationen und deren Auswertung. In der Installation ruht die Klangquelle – ein industrieller Alarmlautsprecher – auf dem Boden und gibt sonifizierte Fragmente von Prozessen, Überreste von Daten und Bruchstücke von Wissen wieder. Die Arbeit umfasst zudem Passagen der Stille.

    “AFAIK” (as far as I know) converts fragments of experiments and the process of sonifying numerical data into sound.

    The data being sonified represents air pollutant concentrations (carbon monoxide, NOx, PM₁₀, PM₂.₅, and SO) measured worldwide between 1995 and 2015.

    Sonification (making data audible) is an interesting method for working in ever-changing worlds. On the one hand, we have broad and rapid access to data; on the other hand, its stream-like nature and the high speed of its change make it difficult to find relevant information and evaluate it. In the installation, the sound source—an industrial alarm speaker—rests on the floor and reproduces sonified fragments of processes, remnants of data, and fragments of knowledge. The work also includes passages of silence.
