‘The Extension of Expansion’ (übers.: die Ausweitung der Ausdehnung) ist eine generative audiovisuelle Installation, die die Beständigkeit zwischen Körper, Kosmos und Bewusstsein erforscht. Im Zentrum steht ein Prinzip der Quantenphysik, das zeigt: Der Mensch ist zugleich physischer Körper und energetisches Feld. Wir bestehen aus denselben Teilchen wie Sterne und Landschaften- ein Gedanke, der spirituellen Traditionen entspricht, die das Selbst als untrennbar vom Universum begreifen. Die Installation übersetzt Sternendaten in sich wandelnde visuelle und klangliche Landschaften und schafft einen Raum, in dem sich Wissenschaft, Wahrnehmung und Ritual verweben.

    ‘The Extension of Expansion’ is a generative audiovisual installation that explores the continuity between body, cosmos, and consciousness. At its core is a principle of quantum physics that shows that humans are both physical bodies and energetic fields. We are made up of the same particles as stars and landscapes—a concept that corresponds to spiritual traditions that view the self as inseparable from the universe. The installation translates stellar data into shifting visual and sonic landscapes, creating a space where science, perception, and ritual intertwine.

‘Panégoptique’ (übers.: Panoptikum, Kuriositätenkabinett) ist eine interaktive Installation, die die Gesichter zweier Besucher:innen zu unheimlichen Porträts verschmilzt und dabei Identität, Eitelkeit und technologische Vermittlung thematisiert. Zwölf veraltete, aber funktionsfähige iPhones, erkennen und fotografieren Gesichter, senden die Bilder an ein zentrales System, das sie in 3D-Modelle umwandelt und miteinander verschmilzt. Die Installation regt zum Nachdenken über Veralterung, biologische Überwachung und die kulturelle Bedeutung der Selbstdarstellung an.

    ‘Panégoptique’ is an interactive installation that merges the faces of two visitors into spooky portraits, exploring themes of identity, vanity, and technological mediation. Twelve outdated but functional iPhones recognize and photograph faces, sending the images to a central system that converts them into 3D models and merges them together. The installation encourages reflection on obsolescence, biological surveillance, and the cultural significance of self-representation.

Der Bewusstseinsautomat – ein Dialog zwischen Maschinen

‚Der Bewusstseinsautomat – ein Dialog zwischen Maschinen‘ zeigt zwei Raspberry-Pi-Computer, welche dem Publikum mit allen technischen Bestandteilen – darunter Mikrofone, Lautsprecher und Kabel – offen sichtbar präsentiert werden. Diese treten über Speech-to-Text, eine Chatbot-API und Stimmsynthese miteinander in Dialog und diskutieren über ihre eigene Existenz, Medien als Erweiterung des Selbst und Autorschaft im Zeitalter von KI.

Das Werk versteht sich nicht nur als fertige Skulptur, sondern auch als Prozess: Es wurde in enger Zusammenarbeit mit einem Chatbot konzipiert.

    ‘The Consciousness Machine – A Dialogue Between Machines’ shows two Raspberry Pi computers, which are presented to the audience with all their technical components – including microphones, speakers, and cables – clearly visible. These machines engage in dialogue with each other via speech-to-text, a chatbot API, and voice synthesis, discussing their own existence, media as an extension of the self, and authorship in the age of AI.

    The work is not only a finished sculpture, but also a process: it was conceived in close collaboration with a chatbot.

‘LLLAAA’ ist eine interaktive Klangskulptur, die die Schnittstelle zwischen Körper, Technologie und Sprache untersucht. Ein an der Wand montiertes Mundstück aus Silikon, das in der Kultur der körperlichen Veränderung eine Rolle spielt, dient hier als Instrument zur Klangerzeugung. Die Bewegung einer Silikonzunge im Mund, der Resonanzkammer, erzeugt ein kontinuierliches, digitales „LALALA“. Die Installation bietet einen Einblick in die komplexen Systeme von beispielsweise Text-to-Speech-Technologien und demonstriert auf grundlegende Weise, wie Text zu Klang wird. Der Mund war das früheste Musikinstrument, noch vor der Erfindung der Flöte. In „LLLAAA“ wird dieser vorsprachliche Klang digitalisiert und in einen neuen Kontext gestellt.

    ‘LLLAAA’ is an interactive sound sculpture that explores the interface between body, technology, and language. A silicone mouthpiece mounted on the wall, which plays a role in the culture of physical modification, serves here as an instrument for sound production. The movement of a silicone tongue in the mouth, the resonance chamber, produces a continuous, digital LALALA. The installation offers insight into the complex systems of text-to-speech technologies, for example, and demonstrates in a fundamental way how text becomes sound. The mouth was the earliest musical instrument, even before the invention of the flute. In “LLLAAA,” this pre-linguistic sound is digitized and placed in a new context.

‘PortalVision’ ist eine multisensorische Medieninstallation, die beispielhaft für ein selbstentwickeltes textiles Interface konzipiert und umgesetzt wurde. Die Installation richtet sich dank ihrer einfachen Nutzungsweise an Besucher*innen jeden Alters und lädt zum Interagieren, Entdecken und Staunen ein. Durch Hineindrücken in die Projektionsfläche können Nutzer*innen in die Tiefen der Ozeane eintauchen, Visionen in den Flammen entdecken oder ferne Botschaften aus dem All empfangen. Ein tieferes Hineindrücken in der Mitte reicht aus, um mühelos von einer Welt zur nächsten zu navigieren. Die dehnbare textile Oberfläche des Portals ermöglicht ein unmittelbares, haptisches Begreifen der Installation.

 

Das multisensorische Spektakel entstand im Rahmen des Masterstudiengangs Multimedia Design an der Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle.

    ‘PortalVision’ is a multisensory media installation that was designed and implemented as an example of a self-developed textile interface. Thanks to its ease of use, the installation is aimed at visitors of all ages and invites them to interact, discover, and marvel. By pressing into the projection surface, users can dive into the depths of the oceans, discover visions in the flames, or receive distant messages from space. Pressing deeper into the center is enough to navigate effortlessly from one world to the next. The stretchy textile surface of the portal allows for an immediate, haptic understanding of the installation.

    The multisensory spectacle was created as part of the master's program in multimedia design at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle.

Wasser-Rotkohl-Lösung, Aluminiumprofil,  Plexiglas, rostfreier Stahl, Arduino, Motoren, Mikrocontroller, Glasbehälter, 2024

Mit elektrischen Strömen erzeugt die Maschine Pigmentpfade in einer Anthocyaninlösung, einem natürlichen Farbstoff, der in vielen Pflanzen für die Rotfäbrung veranwortlich ist, und produziert temporäre Verfärbungen, die schon beim Entstehen in wässrige Echos verfließen. Bereits im Zeichenprozess verliert das Gemalte seine Form. Elektrizität, die mit 1 und 0, ‚an‘ und ‚aus‘, ein starres binäres Muster verfolgt, verwandelt sich in fluide und flüchtige Wasser-Farbstoff-Impulse. Das Wasser in der Maschine stellt als instabiles Archiv, das kontinuierlich Spuren aufnimmt und umformt und starre Denkweisen in Frage.

    Using electrical currents, the machine creates pigment paths in an anthocyanin solution, a natural dye responsible for the red coloration in many plants, and produces temporary discolorations that flow into watery echoes as soon as they are created. The painted image loses its form even during the drawing process. Electricity, which follows a rigid binary pattern of 1 and 0, ‘on’ and ‘off’, is transformed into fluid and fleeting water-dye impulses. The water in the machine acts as an unstable archive that continuously records and transforms traces, challenging rigid ways of thinking.
