Pollution booth

Luft ist unsere Lebensgrundlage. Umso konträrer ist es, dass sie gleichzeitig der Ursprung einer beachtlichen Menge an gesundheitlichen Schäden ist. Das Bundesumweltamt u.a. Institutionen stellen Luftdaten für die Öffentlichkeit zur Verfügung. Diese nutzt der interaktive Fotoautomat, um die Luftverschmutzung in Augsburg, insbesondere das Vorkommen des Feinstaubs PM10 sichtbar zu machen. Wie bei einer herkömmlichen „photo booth“ geht es los mit Druck des Startknopfes. Danach muss für einige Sekunden die Luft angehalten werden. Das Fotoergebnis zeigt zwei Varianten, einmal unbearbeitet und einmal mit „Konfetti“-Filter, bei dem jedes Partikel im Filter für 1μg/m3 Feinstaub steht. Allgemein gilt: Je unsichtbarer das Foto, umso schlechter die Luft!

    Air is the basis of our life. It is all the more contrary that it is at the same time the source of a considerable amount of health damages. The German Federal Environmental Agency and other institutions provide air data to the public. The interactive photo booth uses this data to visualize the air pollution in Augsburg, especially the occurrence of the fine dust PM10. As with a conventional "photo booth", the process starts by pressing the start button. Then the air has to be held for a few seconds. The photo result shows two variants, one unprocessed and one with a "confetti" filter, where each particle in the filter represents 1μg/m3 of particulate matter. In general, the more invisible the photo, the worse the air!
