KLANG-INSTALLATION
HYE YOUNG SIN (KÖLN): »Wenn man dem Regen lauscht, während man sich unter Wasser befindet – wie mag das wohl klingen?« Um das herauszufinden, hat die aus Südkorea stammende Künstlerin Hye Young Sin eine spezielle Apparatur gebaut. Sie besteht aus einem Aquarium, einem Unterwasser-Mikrofon, beweglichen Objekten über dem Wasser sowie zwei Kopfhörern. Das Mikrofon, das die Geräusche unter Wasser aufzeichnet, nimmt darüber hinaus auch die Veränderungen beim Wasserdruck auf und fungiert als Filter für den Schall. Während sich nun das Aquarium füllt, verändert sich auch der Klang, der vom Mikrofon aufgezeichnet und wiedergegeben wird.
SOUND-INSTALLATION
HYE YOUNG SIN (KÖLN): This project starts with a simple imagination: “If one listens to rain drops under water, how would it sound like?“ The basic construction of this work consists of an aquarium, a hydrophone, animated objects hanging above the water and two headphones. The hydrophone is designed to capture underwater sounds according to a pressure change, but it also functions as a sound filter. Due to the constant dripping, the water level is slowly rising and the sound picked up by the hydrophone changes accordingly.
