DAN WILCOX (KARLSRUHE): Mitten im Raum steht eine Maschine, die von Luftballons umgeben ist. Durch Ventilatoren werden die Ballons über die Maschine geweht und je nach Höhe und Geschwindigkeit kreieren sie dadurch Klang. Dan Wilcox versteht sich dabei nur als Ideengeber. Der US-amerikanische Künstler, Ingenieur und Musiker kombiniert Techniken des Live-Musizierens mit experimenteller Elektronik und Software. Das Publikum kann zwar versuchen, Nenas »99 Luftballons« zu interpretieren, aber jede*r Besucher*in kann auch selbst komponieren. Für dieses Exponat müssen Sie in den Nordflügel des abraxas‘ gehen (Eingang: JTA).
COMPOSING WITH BALLOONS
DAN WILCOX (KARLSRUHE): Have you ever played with a bubble slowly floating in the air or a balloon that neither rose nor fell? This installation is an experiment with intuitive motion and sound. A machine stands in a room surrounded by balloons. Circulating fans blow the balloons over the machine which creates sound based on their movements. Visitors are invited to influence the motion of the balloons are they trace paths throughout the space.
