Powerful flashes and spectacular sirens - lab30 celebrated its 10th anniversary!

lab30, Augsburg’s Media Arts Festival, took place this year for the 10th time. From October 27th to October 29th, Kulturhaus abraxas was transformed into an international arts laboratory for media and installation artists, for sound, electronics, technicians, workshop leaders and digitals artists who made up the offspring of the European arts academy scene. This festival of electronic arts has found its level within the relevant festival landscape, moving on from being an insider’s tip to becoming a constant in the yearly agenda of visitors and artists who travel the scene.
For lab30 2011, over 100 presentations from all over Europe had reached the city of Augsburg’s cultural department (Kulturamt). The team of curators has chosen about 30 installations, sound experiments and performances that could be visited, looked at, played with, worked on in the exhibition or experienced live on stage in three densely packed festival nights. The "lab award" was given to Reinhard Gupfinger and his project »Sound tossing«. 
The festival anniversary was supported by the Bayerisches Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst and the Kulturfond Bayern.

Next year's festival will be from Oct 25th-Oct 27th. Stay tuned!
