Reinhard Gupfinger (Linz, AT) Sound tossing Do it yourself - Sound graffiti - Winner of lab award 2011!
»Sound Tossing« is an alternative type of street art that uses sound as a medium of creative expression in a public space. As the streets belong to the people, the intention is to appeal to anyone who wants to shape their acoustic space. Small sound generators hooked up to loudspeakers are thrown onto overhead wires, buildings and trees, from which they emit their acoustic signals and messages to provoke confusion in their immediate vicinity. www.gupfinger.net As a documentation during the exhibition\ as open lab Thu Oct 27th, 9.30-11 p.m. and Sat Oct 29th, 3.00-6.00 p.m. \ appr. 1 hour \ open for all visitors
Karlheinz Jeron (Berlin) Fresh Music for Rotten Vegetables DIY-Soundinstallation with vegetables
Karl Heinz Jeron creates little electronical sound producers. The special attraction: He therefore uses special circuits that need only low energy - which means that he can use fruit and vegetables as the only powersource. If you plug a chopper and a zinc electrode into a potatoe you can see a reaction that creates electrical power. If you now tune and adjust the wires the different electromachanial states of the fruit and vegetables will create a very unique piece of art. http://portfolio.jeron.org Always visible during the exhibition As a workshop anly on Sat Oct 29th \ 2.00 p.m. appr. 3 hours \ for children and grown-ups older than 10 years \ limited attendance Mey Lean Kronemann (Berlin) Klackerlaken Shiny vibrobots
It's a very special kind of insect that lives in Kulturhaus abraxas during the lab30 festival. They clang and buzz, they distub and they glow through the whole building. If you don't watch your step you might even step on them - although the even are kind of sweet. In this workshop the participants first learn how LED and motors work, Based on this background knowledge (moving by vibrating) everyone can build his or her own vibrobot with an own design. Which one is the most beautiful? Which one the fastest?
