Dextro (SCO) The Dextro story begins when a young Ewan Mackenzie migrates from rural Scotland to Glasgow to embrace the city’s vibrant music scene - swapping CDs at gigs and staging makeshift jams and listening sessions in friend’s flats. It is only a matter of time before he finds himself playing in a Joy Division covers band and running his own electronica nights at Glasgow’s legendary 13th Note, and the Dextro concept is born. The name given to both Ewan’s solo live electronica project and the early gig nights he ran, the Dextro nights also featured visuals by artistically-inclined friends and a variety of guest bands and musicians. And in the audience one evening members of the band Snowblood, who wasted no time in recruiting Ewan on the drums. Several years and an album and European tour later, the band are still going from strength to strength. Meanwhile, with his Dextro project Ewan has embraced a huge variety of styles, from the blissed out lushness of “Do You Need Help” on Border Community through the diverse Rough Trade favourite “The Animism EP” on his friend’s label Jumblefunk. “Much of today's music is over produced and perhaps less 'real' than it should be,” is how Ewan describes his own production philosophy. “I am a firm believer in capturing amoment, realising that music can be special.”

Dystronic (D/Augsburg) Behind Dystronic is Thomas ROBERT from Augsburg. From the beginning involved in the 2000-founded electro-network and label „Kommando 6“, he decided in 2001 to start producing his own electronic tracks as Dystronic. He released three 12inch EPs on the „Kommando 6“ - label and some tracks on various compilations. Besides his solo-project, Dystronic is currently involved in the side project "Black Spider Clan" together with Beta Evers from (ex-) „Kommando 6“. Apart from music, he also produces videos and visuals (as Dystronic and under the alias „Syskin“). In 2004 he founded „Simulacron“, a network which became mainly a small label (as yet released: a video-DVD, a CD, a 10"- and a 12"-vinyl). Right now Dystronic works on new tracks for „Black Spider Clan“ and is close to complete his first full-length Dystronic album which will be released on „Simulacron“ in short. www.myspace.com/dystronic // http://www.dystronic.de
Legowelt (NL) Legowelt began producing music in the early 90ies when the adolescent schoolboy came in sporadic contact with the sounds of Detroit's Underground Resistance and virtually every type of freaked deep music he could get his hands on. But nothing had quite the influence of when he first heard a band called 'Unit Moebius' on the radio. A punky palette of RAW freaked out Lo-fi chicago trax and deep detroit jams made with machines which were found next to the garbage can. Shocked in awe he heard that this music came out of The Hague, Holland, the very same city he lived in! Put on the right track by this fact he stumbled into the Bunker Records office and discoverd a world of contemporary autistic freaked music lovers who looked beyond all the bland house and dance music that ruled the media and clubs. Musical mentors such as IF and Melvin White (aka pametex) lectured him with even more unknown sounds such as early electro and the obscure pre-1983 Italian disco which production secrets were closely studied. In 1998 Bunker released the first vinyl of Legowelt : Pimpshifter, a 6 track mingled Italo Chicago combi which became an instant cult hit with tracks such as 'Sturmvogel' and 'Total Pussy Control'. Dysphemic (AUS) Dysphemic’s obsession with electronic music began at the age of 10 when he experimented with Sound Tracker 2 on his family's 1984 Amiga Commodore computer. Heavily interested in the drum programming of Jungle and Drum and Bass, at the age of 15, Dysphemic produced his first 60 minute album which consisted mainly of raver jungle. At age 17, with the aid of a dodgy photocopier found in a back alley in Hazelbrook, he independently printed and released his 2nd album, with a more hardcore sound ,entitled “decapitation”. Random copies of this cd are said to be still floating around Sydney. He started playing at warehouse parties, including Sydneys System Corrupt events. By the age of 19 Dysphemic released a 12”vinyl split with world renowned speedcore artist “passenger of shit” through the Pain Free Found Sound Institute record label. In early 2008, Dysphemic put out a limited release cd called Fire Bomb in 2008, which was a return to his drum and bass and jungle roots. Dysphemic started playing frequently in Melbournes Drum and Bass and Dubstep scene, quickly gaining a name for himself for his original sound and epic live show, consisting only of original tracks, tweaked and manipulated through a midi device and computer. www.dysphemic.com Sat Nov 7th, 11 p.m., Kantine (Kulturpark West)
