»lab award« acknowledges artistic achievements which stand out as exceptional, especially innovative and extraordinarily creative. It supports interdisciplinary and cross-genre work, and wants to encourage experiments and transboundary approaches. The prize money, 1.000.- EUR, is provided by Kulturbüro Augsburg. The jury, consisting of students from Fachhochschule Augsburg, develops a new trophy each year which is given to the winner in the award ceremony. In 2007, all exhibits are nominated for lab award.

 

 

The Jury: Manuel Piepereit (chairman), Claudia Lanzl, Simon Schories, Chrissi Maier, Michael Bergeler. All members of the jury are students of Fachhochschule Augsburg / Department of Design. They all work independently and honorary.

 

Selection of the nominated works: Peter Bommas (Junges Theater Augsburg), Hans-Christian Grimm (freelance curator, Kurzfilmfest Oberhausen), Robert Rose (Fachhochschule Augsburg), Elke Seidel (Kulturbüro Augsburg).

 

 

400 qm exhibition space, a Black Box Stage for sound and image experiments and a club are at the festival’s disposal. The festival organisers are interested in the following projects:

1)     For the exhibition: Interactive installations or exhibition projects which, visually and/or acoustically, deal with new (computer) technologies and digital possibilities in a playful way.

Works/Exhibits should not be older than 3 years. To preserve the workshop atmosphere and the communicative character of the festival, exhibits/projects should be presented by the artist him- or herself on the spot for the entire duration of the festival. The festival organisation will care for catering and accommodation. An exhibition catalogue will be published.

2)     For the Black Box Stage: full-length, audiovisual projects/programmes that use the possibilities and the special situation of the space: The audience sits on a small u-shaped, rising tribune. Projections ( 3 x ca. 4 x 4 metre, frontal, left and right), are possible.

All works will be discussed and chosen for lab 30 by the curators. From all works nominated, one exhibit/project will be awarded with the lab award (1.000.- EUR).
